Android 9 Pie: Now Available on Google Pixel Phones

The next version of Android is live now and its called "Android Pie". Google initially announced the preview version of the software in March and demoed some features at its annual developer conference (Google I/O 2018).

Previously, the update was available only for the people who have signed in for Android Beta program. Several manufacturers participated in the beta program, including Sony, Xiaomi, Nokia, Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, and Essential. Now the update started rolling to Pixel devices. Essential also mentioned in a Twitter post that it will be available for the Essential Phone the same day it's released. Other devices that were part of the beta program will also receive the update in a few days.

Android Pie mostly focuses on improvement in performance and battery management. The visual updates include a gesture-based navigation system, a new feature called Digital Wellbeing, slices - which allows apps to show some of their functionality into search. But all the features are not available in the latest update.

If you own a Pixel or an Essential Phone, check in your system settings for the update and have a taste of the fresh Android Pie.
